The history of tolls in Morocco tracks the building of the motorway network, from the first sections to the rollout of electronic tolling. This guide offers a chronological overview, for reference.
Chronological milestones
- 1975: the first motorway section, linking Casablanca to Rabat, opens as the network's pioneer.
- 1989: creation of the Société Nationale des Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM), tasked with building and operating the network.
- 2000s–2010: accelerated expansion towards Fez, Marrakesh, Tangier and the east of the country.
- 2010s: gradual generalisation of Jawaz electronic tolling at gates.
- 2025: opening of new sections (for example Tit Mellil–Berrechid).

A growing infrastructure
